The flagship of Manuel Lobo's Douro project - a single vineyard wine of rare depth and character. The Vinha do Norte is a north facing plot planted in 1985, where old vines push deep into the ancient schist soils of the Douro, yielding fruit of extraordinary concentration and complexity. A blend of Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, and Tinta Roriz - the holy trinity of the Douro. Fermentation in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks, with 10 days of extended skin contact to extract colour, structure, and aromatic depth. Aged for 20 months in French oak barrels - only the finest barrels making the final cut. Dark violet, almost opaque in the glass. The nose is exceptional - an intricate tapestry of wild Douro berries, cistus, balsamic notes, spice, and a mineral depth that speaks directly of the terroir. On the palate, it opens with great power and elegance, building into a wine of excellent volume and compact, finely textured tannins. The finish is long, complex, and deeply persistent. A wine of true identity and longevity. Serve alongside slow roasted game, aged cheeses, or simply with time. Serve at 16–18°C. Vineyards planted 1985.
